The Bahamas is an archipelago with 2,000 islands, including small islands. Bahamas Islands are once a paradise for pirates and loyalists, the islands are now a great place for world-class fishing, boating, diving, snorkeling, and anyone who enjoys sailing.

1. Acklins and Crooked Island

The Acklins & Crooked Island island is 30 miles long and is ideal for diving and fishing over 45 miles around the surrounding area. The islands settled as American loyalists in the late 1780s, who hired 1,000 slaves as cotton growers.

Although Acklins Island has relatively few historical sites, there are some important places. Acklins Island is home to many Lucayan people. An ancient site, one of the largest Lucayan settlements in the Bahamas, is located at Pompey Bay Beach in the south of Spring Point.

The two islands are a haven for boating, bone, snorkeling, and diving. You will also find miles of sandy beaches, splendid cliffs, coral gardens, limestone caves, and cotton gardens.

Andros Island is the largest island in the Bahamas. This Island has secrets and mysteries on land and sea. Andros Island is the site of two of the first dive-dedicated resorts in the world and the first in the Bahamas.

Andros Island is surrounded by the home to permit, fishable flats, tarpon, and especially bonefish. The island is also called the bonefish capital of the world. This island has a vast expansion of underwater caves and is sitting next to the world’s third largest coral reef.

3. Bimini Island

Bimini Island is located just 50 miles from the Florida coast, Bimini is the island close to the United States. Visitors around the world enjoy the historic complexity of Bimini Island, and the famous past including Bimini Road, which is believed to be a remnant of legendary lost city Atlantis.

Bimini has three major islands: North Bimini, South Bimini, and East Bimini. 

Bimini island is famous for fishing and Hemingway. Bimini is a common travel destination for Hemingway.

The Bimini Museum in Alice Town features an interesting collection of artifacts and performances in island history. There are many places in Bimini island that claim to have spiritual properties of obscure origins.

Cat Island is located in the central Bahamas and one of its districts. Cat Island has the highest point of the country, Mount Alvernia(Como Hill).

The Big Blue Hole at Orange Creek is one of the major attractions in the Cat Islands, Bahamas. The hole is very deep and it carries a strong underlying current into the ocean. Many items, such as dead farm animals, threw into the lake and reached the ocean through its caverns. According to local folklore, a monster dwells in the Big Blue Hole, which casts horses. It is said that the folklore still frightened the local fishermen from the freshwater lake.

5. The Berry Islands

There are about thirty islands and a hundred small islands in the Berry Islands often referred to as The Fish Bowl of the Bahamas.

Big game fishing is the main attraction in Berry Islands. Some of the fish that can be found are tuna, grouper, billfish, tigerfish, wahoo, king mackerel, yellowtail snapper, and many more. In May, Great Harbour Island is filled with visitors and fishing captains for an annual fishing tournament such as Habana Joe. There are also great places for scuba diving and snorkeling.
